The incident occurred in Litchfield County at 5 p.m., Aug. 12, in New Hartford.
According to the Connecticut State Police, a Hartford County man, identified as Robert Holcomb, age 31, of Farmington, was found by troopers suffering from severe injuries on westbound Route 44.
He was rushed by ambulance to Winsted Health Center in Winsted, where he was pronounced dead, state police said.
State Police said a preliminary investigation found that Holcomb was headed west on a 2013 Harley Davidson when he lost control and struck the metal guardrail.
The crash remains under investigation.
